There are countless items of electrical equipment out there, many of which will need periodic inspection and testing to ensure they are safe for use in the workplace. However, we often get calls from ‘PAT Testing’ practitioners asking ‘how do I test this item?’. We ask how they have been testing it, or how have they been showed how to test it and worryingly, very often they are doing it completely wrong.
Testing an item incorrectly can lead to equipment ‘passing’ the tests…even though it should have failed, or ‘failing’ the tests when if tested correctly it would have passed.
